From the letter dated February 24, 1836, written by Commander William B. Travis and signed “Victory or Death” has come to be known simply as “The Travis Letter.” The letter was a plea for reinforcements and supplies from supporters to defend the Alamo against the Mexican Army. He ended the letter with a simple warrior promise of “Victory or Death.”
