Officer Hunter Simoncic Memorial Band
Relentless Defender is honored to release this pre-order fundraiser design in memory of Officer Hunter Simoncic Memorial Band, who was tragically killed in the line of duty on August 26, 2025, while protecting his community in Kansas City.
Officer Simoncic was deploying stop sticks at College Parkway and State Avenue when he was intentionally struck by a fleeing suspect in a stolen vehicle. Earlier that night, officers responded to reports of gunfire and discovered an unconscious man behind the wheel of a truck. When approached, the suspect fled, leading police on a pursuit. He later switched vehicles and continued to evade law enforcement. In a deliberate act, the suspect crossed a median and swerved into Officer Simoncic, striking him before fleeing the scene. Officer Simoncic was transported to the University of Kansas Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The suspect, a convicted felon with an extensive criminal history and an active warrant, was later apprehended and charged with multiple felonies, including first-degree murder and vehicular homicide.
Officer Simoncic had served with the Kansas City Police Department for just over one year. He was known for his dedication, character, and willingness to put others before himself. He was avidly in the gym working out which is signified in the design. He is survived by his parents and brother, who now face this unimaginable loss.
This tribute design was created at the request and with the input of his loved ones and fellow officers to honor his service and sacrifice. 100% of the proceeds from the sale of this shirt will be donated directly to Officer Simoncic’s family through the Relentless Defender Foundation, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
