On January 15, 2025, Navasota Police Sergeant Mark Butler tragically lost his life in the line of duty. Sergeant Butler, a dedicated public servant and United States Army veteran, was killed in a head-on collision during a pursuit on Highway 6 near Farm-to-Market 3090 in Navasota. His courageous actions prevented the fleeing suspect from colliding with other motorists, showcasing his unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of his community. Sergeant Butler is survived by his loving family.
