The 29-year-old trooper is undergoing treatment at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston and is expected to remain there for the next six to eight weeks.

Loya, a father of three young children ages 8, 7, and 4, will be living temporarily in Houston during his treatment. He hopes to return to Edinburg on weekends to visit his children and family members.
